Institutional Partners

1.   Marcellus Center for Outreach and Research (MCOR)
The Marcellus Center for Outreach and Research is Penn State's education and research initiative on unconventional gas plays. The center coordinates and facilitates outreach programs and carries out select research projects to address the complete range of issues presented by the development and utilization of the Marcellus Shale and other energy shale resources.


2.   Institute for Natural Gas Research at Penn State (INGaR)
Bringing together one of the largest contingents of natural gas experts in the United States, Penn State has established an Institute for Natural Gas Research (INGaR), to establish the world’s premier academic Institute focused on the full breadth of research related to the development and utilization of natural gas including:  discovery and exploration, production, stimulation, transmission, storage, processing, chemical conversion, utilization, infrastructure, water and environmental issues.


3.   Marcellus Shale Coalition (MSC)
The Marcellus Shale Coalition (MSC) works with exploration and production, midstream, and supply chain partners in the Appalachian Basin and across the country to address issues regarding the production of clean, job-creating, American natural gas from the Marcellus and Utica Shale plays.


4.   MSC Research Collaborative
The Marcellus Shale Coalition’s (MSC) Research Collaborative consists of professionals from MSC member companies, and select volunteers that work together to advance technology and process solutions to address Appalachian Basin shale industry challenges and support science-based decisions for the benefit of all stakeholders. The RC holds a Technology Showcase at the MSC’s annual INSIGHT™ Conference that highlights select technologies, and that is sponsored and coordinated by the Shale Gas Innovation & Commercialization Center (SGICC).


5.   Gas Technology Institute (GTI)
GTI is the leading research, development and training organization addressing energy and environmental challenges to enable a secure, abundant, and affordable energy future. For nearly 75 years, GTI has  been providing economic value to the natural gas industry and energy markets by developing technology-based solutions for industry, government, and consumers.


6.    Penn State Cooperative Extension's Marcellus Education Team
The Penn State Cooperative Extension's Marcellus Education Team consists of a group of county-based educators who have been heavily involved with the wide range of issues arising from shale exploration and development in the state, the nation, and the world.


7.    Shale Training & Education Center (ShaleTEC) 
The Marcellus Shales Education & Training Center is a collaboration between Pennsylvania College of Technology and Penn State Cooperative extension to provide a wide variety of resources to the community and the oil-and-gas industry.
